August 2009
Last month I did a
photograph/picture that was very much an abstract image with a "blurb"
in praise of Travelodge. This month continues the theme with another
photograph that captures "a moment in time" and is actually in a
Travelodge again! This picture is in The Regent Hotel, Leamington
Spa - now a Travelodge. The picture shows my wife on the main
staircase. Queen Victoria - as a princess aged 11 years - probably ran
up these stairs when she stayed here in 1830. The hotel came close to
demolition recently - but survived*. My wife, daughter and I
should not really have stayed here - but Travelodge double booked the
rooms in the Stratford-on-Avon hotel where we should have stayed and
had to find us alternative accommodation -- which was ironically
fortunate for us since we had mistakenly only booked a Double
Room and needed a Family Room - which is what we got at The Regent!! *(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Regent_Hotel).
