nude girl sitting hunched up I feel a degree of frustration about the drawings I have made from life since I am not able to adequately capture the beauty of the model. This is probably why the significance of life-drawings for me rest as much in them being a record of the event as in them being aesthetic end products. This drawing was made towards the end of a 2 hour session. I think it captures something of the concentration that is required of the model to hold even a simple pose. Already she had done a series of one minute poses (sometimes in muscle aching positions) and some medium length poses. I don't know whether you like this drawing or not but what you see owes as much to Lesley - the model - as it does to me - and any of the failings in it are mine.
